I an a carnivore but  can fully understand being vegetarian, particularly if you are not keen on the flavour of meat.  What I cannot understand is Vegans ( one of my daughters and one of Mrs Orcs Daughters are vegan ).

This causes all sorts of issues when catering at family gatherings, far more than being vegetarian.  Particularly when two other family members are  celiac.  I can cope with the inconvenience of the celiac as this is not their choice, but the Vegans .... "You cant use the same tongs for the veggie sausages as you use for the normal ones " You find you don't haver room in the oven to have different pans for everything.

Fortunately my daughter is practical and says "don't worry if the roast potatoes are in the same pan as the meat, just don't tell me."  But the stepdaughter and her boyfriend (also vegan) wanted me to get another Barb que to cook their food on.  that was a step to far

I'd tell the boyfriend he is welcome to bring his own BBQ and food >:(

It's only 2 or 3 quid for a disposable BBQ. 
I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be.

I know what you're saying. Catering for people's fussiness or eating habits can indeed be a faff. Suppose it depends whether or not you want to fall out with your step daughter. Families!  =) :)

Step daughter is such a lazy £$$%^^ that I am not bothered.  I even avoid being in the same room if I cam

My 3rd fiancee was Indian and a vegetarian.

I went to her house one day and watched her (dressed in a white sari) cook a meal from scratch - flour, herbs, spices etc. It was the most magical and beautiful thing I have ever watched.

However, she cooked me some meat. I knew what that meant to her - and to this day I get quite emotional thinking about it.

She was the one that got away.

Yes I have one of those as well - (Not a 3rd fiancé) , but one that got away.  :)

I was once at a dinner, many years ago, where everyone at the large table was a bachelor ... and all had such a tale.  A sad lot we were.
