I'm in the initial stages of an Italian Wars project and looking to create some
archetypal terrain that will shout out 'Italy !' at a glance.

Poplar trees seem to be a critical ingredient and, if possible, I would like to make
some of my own rather than just buy in.

I don't suppose anyone has any thoughts how to make these ?   I'm thinking of
a tree about 5cm in height and about 1cm maximum width.

Thank you,

Phil

I think I've seen them made from pipecleaners, but could be wrong.

I've done that. Double the pipecleaner over at the height you want for the final tree, then wrap the remaining pipecleaner in a tight spiral around the doubled bit to make foliage. Bulk it up with a little PVA, and you're Robert's nephew.
I don't drink coffee to wake up. I wake up to drink coffee.

Its a tough shape to get right for the eye. Just off the top of my head .... something like a pipe cleaner for structure, with DAS type clay to give form and then heavily glued and rolled in a medium foliage flock for effect. I know Timecast do some nice ones :-)

Thanks chaps,

Some great ideas - thank you.
