Sad to start this one already.  Sad

Neil Peart, the drummer (and lyricist) from 'Rush'.

"I have memory and awareness,
but I have no shape, or form,
as a disembodied spirit,
I am dead and yet unborn.

I have passed into Olympus,
as was told in tales of old.
To the city of immortals,
marble white and purest gold."

Loved him in the 'Minister' series and I didn't know he married leslie Judd of Blue Peter fame.

Also Christopher Tolkein passed away a day or so ago, aged 95.

Bernard's gone? That's a sad loss - one couldn't help liking the character.

Historian Dennis Showalter passed away recently.

He wrote extensively on WWI and WWII but is also known for, “Frederick the Great, A Military History”

That is really sad news. As well as writing a fine history of Frederick’s wars, he also wrote an excellent book on the Wars of German Unification, and a splendid and ground breaking history of the impact of industrialisation on warfare ‘Railroads and Rifles’. Also knowledgeable on the ACW, he was one of the few historians who bridged the Atlantic in his 19th century studies.

Awww....**** Sad

"Willum" our oldest horse has just had to be 'put to sleep'....

We think he had a heart attack or stroke....His hind legs wouldn't work.
Dear old thing, he was.....A thoroughbred that reaches the age of 32 hasn't done too badly, so we don't feel too bad...(We'll still miss him though.)

Sorry to here that Phill.   He probably got to that age from all the pampering Von gave him.

Sorry to read that, Phil.  Age 32 sounds like a good innings for a horse. I'm sure he had a decent life with you guys.
