SHADO? Flying saucers vs Earth ships with over-large missiles? Purple wigs and silver outfits?

You forgot string vests as a uniform . . .

You never watched Space 1999?   :o

1999, the moon is blown out of Earth orbit? Commander Koening?  Eagles? One arm of your beige uniform a different colour?

Ahh, the Eagle. Surely the coolest 'realistic' type of space ship ever seen on TV. Shame they then used a design obviously - and brilliantly - designed for low/zero gravity for landing on planets . . .

Maya the shape changing alien?

Urgh, 2nd series. Avoid this at all costs. However good or bad you think Space:1999 is (I enjoyed it at the time, but think it's aged badly) the 1st series is infinitely better than the 2nd.

Stand by for action......Anything can happen in the next half hour.

Anyone else remember Peter Cook and Dudley Moore's "Superthunderstingcar" ?

There are a few versions of that on YouTube. :)

88 not a bad innings at all. He never seemd to take himself too seriously when on the tv.

Totally agree, Steve. :(

From a much more innocent era....But I still smile when the old Eric and Ernie shows are shown.
Especially the one with 'Andre Preview.'.....Absolute classic. :)

Cheers - Phil

Steve J

How Andre Previn managed not to smile, I'll never know! An absolute classic piece of tv ;D
