A bad move in 3d...

I made a mistake in my 3d printing this week. In preparation for a game of What a Tanker! at my boardgame club sometime before Christmas, I decided to print up a selection of bigger tanks than my usual 1:150, 10mm, scale fare. So here's some 1:100, 15mm scale, printed in the natural scale the files were intended for.

See the mistake? No? They look great, don't they? Yeah, they're bloody marvellous. They're gorgeous. And here I am looking at decades worth of 1:150 stuff, buildings, fences, bunkers, barriers - not to mention the vehicles and figures - and I'm thinking... do I really want to start in 1:100 now?

Course you do, and 20mm, and 6mm, just avoid 28mm.....

I agree Wulf.  If I had a choice now I would do WW2 skirmish in 15mm , and larger actions in 10mm.  But when I started there was virtually no WW2 stuff in 15mm, certainly not much as far as suitable buildings go.

So I have 20mm in vast quantities for Chain of Command/ Rapid Fire for NW Europe. and lots of early war in 10mm

So far I have avoided building up NW Europe in 10mm, partly because thee is lots already at club and partly to reduce the amount of terrain I need....... but if I had a 3d Pinter I think I would stretch even Mrs Orcs tolerance

Yes, it's the terrain. Even a simple small building is pretty damn big in 15mm compared to 10mm - OK, not huge in ground area, but it feels so much bigger in volume, and it's so much taller! I'm printing enough for a simple scenario - a farm for the middle of the battlefield - and it's really not good for 3d printing. I'll have to have a go with the old techniques and make stuff out of foamcore!
