Just watching "The Detectorists" again on BBC iplayer.  The similarities between them and wargamers is very frightening

I think there's a similar vibe among any set of single minded hobbyists.

For example a former workplace had a group of lads with expensive sportscars.
Their facebooks are full of track meets, exhibition days, "detailing".

They make the greatest grognard look like an amaterr in their geeky obsessiveness.
