Hello James

If you're looking for hulls in smaller scales then you could use card models:-

Which has
https://cfp.muerell.de/products/9

And
http://papermau.blogspot.com/search/label/boat
https://www.papershipwright.co.uk/category/free-downloads/ has lots of piers, etc
http://www.ss42.com/pt-boats.html

Hopefully useful.

Cheers

Thanks Victor - all good ideas.  I will probably stick with metal/resin/plastic as the paper models don't last long in my little wars!

The total actual cost of these would be about £2 in materials and about 12-14 hours print time. They don't even look amazingly well printed. The seller is also in breach of the creative Commons License under which they are distributed, by advertising them for sale at a profit.

...just saying...  :-[
I'm sure none of us on this forum want anything to do with intellectual piracy (is that the right term?), so before buying any of these ships I did check and the licence on Thingiverse does state "Commercial use is allowed".

I don't know which of the three ship models you were looking at, but the middle one, the only one I have personally downloaded & printed, is this one:

The license, stated down the left side, states 'Attribution, Non-Commercial, Share Alike'.The others may say differently, Creative Commons Licenses can be varied by the creators.

I will tell you what I am in the market for.  A commercial steamer/ferry - shallow draft - that could be commandeered to transport troops.  Anything out there in 1/300 or close ?

I came across a 1/300 Irregular river boat cabin & bridge in my son's spares box - and to create a longer hull, cut down an Airfix 1/72 pontoon boat.

A few bits of plastic card and it will be fit for purpose.   :)
