As Victor (Grumpy Old Man) reminded me, today is ANZAC Day.

It is marked across the world, with 5am Dawn Service in London at Hyde Park Corner.

In Ulster we host our ANZAC remembrance at Ballance House, 118a Lisburn Rd, Glenavy  BT29 4NY   on Sunday 28th, 14.00 hrs

When you go home
Tell them of us and say
For your tomorrow
We gave our today-

Yep.

One of my dear old Dad's relatives got wounded there...I was stunned when I found Paul (in NZ) had heard of this chap.

Dr Dave

As a Briton I've always thought my country very fortunate to such Friends.

My uncle described a railway carriage in Egypt being emptied by one rather angry Australian. When I recounted the tale to an Australian Colonel and I suggested the chap might have seen too much, or have PTSD, the Colonel replied "Nahhh, he was probably just bored - or wanted a beer"  :-X

I have many relatives in both A and NZ, which is why I stay this side of the planet.

Nothing but the greatest of respect for both countries and their services.

Good chaps (and Sheilas) when the going gets tough.

Though my affinity gets a bit stretched during cricket tours.
