If I were creating Pendraken I wouldn't mess about with Romans and  Mongols  I would have started with Centurions , eight o'clock, Day One!

The spire has collapsed and by the look of the latest images the whole roof has gone. The heat won't help an already fragile structure. Just so, so sad to see.

Quite terrible.

Imagine being some poor workman wondering if it was something that you did - left something switch on or missed some precaution when welding. Must be awful.

Very sad. I have a silver lining attitude to this. I saw a programme very recently about how desperate the cathedral was regarding restoration. This event will lead to some brand new core structure being incorporated which should leave the building much stronger for the future,

I guess we won't know the full extent until we see some aerial shots, and they show film of the interior.

It appears that they have been able to save some of the treasures from inside, which is good news. One leading French business men has already pledged 100 million Euros to the restoration, so a great start.
