I take the point that 'moderns' is a megga range to enter - party because of the periodization and the sheer number of wars and conflicts.  However, in 15mm this dilemma was cracked by Peter Pig with two innovations; -

(1)  heads -  would it be possible to cast a range of 'heads' in 10mm ?  For example, a range of beret heads  mated to the Vietman Aussies, and you have Brits circa 1960-late 1980s

(2) generic figures - 'professional, SLR beret' or 'regular, AK47, Walker cap'  and with a paint job, the figure can join a wide range of modern forces.

Moderns...

Falklands, it has been said would be ideal, but so are some other eras too.

Soviet Afghanistan. Hinds, BMPs, and infantry. Taliban can be used for later insurgents for a more modern version with Humvees and USMC.

Panama can use the USMC and opposition would be Cuban's etc, which would then be transferable to African campaigns.

No need to go large, just think around the core items for each period and opposition that can serve more than one faction.
Unlike some people, I feel under no obligation to pretend that only one war-gaming scale is true, and that any others 6mm/10mm/15mm/25mm are mistaken; or that I know better than people themselves what is right for them to use. The point is precisely for all war-gamers to decide for themselves.

A modern range would be great. T55s,T62s, M60s and Centurions a few M113s and BTR 50s would cover a huge time period. The more specialised, up to date stuff could come much slower. Infantry could be more generic, soviet helmets(ww2 inf ?) US helmets(also ww2 ?). I am sure the mountain of requests that would follow will simply target future releases more directly. Go for it you never know it might become popular ;)
