With a new year comes a new show season and we'll be kicking things off as always with the excellent Vapnartak show in York!  All of the show dates are listed below, so if you'd like to pre-order anything for any of these events, please make sure to let us know at least 7 days in advance!

There's a couple of changes to the schedule this year.  Firstly we've got a new Glasgow show back on the calendar which is great news.  Taking place at the end of June, we're hoping that people will come and support this new event.  Then at the other end of the year, there's not been any news about the Derbys show so we've knocked that off our list.

We're still waiting on a date for the Border Reiver show as well, Colours have moved their event back a weekend which has caused a clash.  The Border Reivers club are currently looking at their options and will be confirming a date very soon.

And of course there'll be our own Battleground show taking place on Saturday 30th November this year!

You are going to be busy ;)

One thing I find slightly odd about the UK shows is that they are almost all one day events

Here in NZ almost all events are two days except for the Nationals over Easter which is three days

Gives you twice the wargaming time for not much more effort/expense :-\

We do have a lot fewer shows and tend to have to travel further...

We used to have more 2-day events but most of them have disappeared now due to one thing or another.  The 2-day shows were always kept going by the tournaments though, the actual sales side didn't really benefit from an extra day.  Triples wasn't managed very well and disappeared a few years back, but the Sunday was always dead anyway.  Colours decided to switch to a single day and we've seen almost the same takings over that single day as we used to over two.  And then Derby had a large number of tournaments and the Sunday was usually pretty good, but no-one knows what's happening there after their issues.

The only 2-day-er that we attend now is Warfare in Reading, which is about a 60/40 split of Sat/Sun sales and is worth attending.

The other factor in the UK is the number of shows through the year.  Folks can pop along for a single day knowing that there's another show around the corner, so there's no real need to incur the hotel and food costs of attending for two days.

Thanks Leon, interesting to understand the differences in different parts of the world

Tournaments definitely encourage the two day format here

It also allows for large demo games that run over the two days such as this 6mm Cold War goes hot game set in and around Alsfeld in 1984 on a 20'x6' table

A coupe of Questions.
I'm hoping to make it to Carronade.

How do we place the order
Can we use the normal shop and then request pick-up at show?
Can we combine Minibits and Pendraken stuff in a single order?

(I should remember this as I did some business last year - however the little grey cells aren't getting any younger).

Thanks

Leon

For show orders, you can put them through each site separately.  If you add the items to your Basket as normal and head to the checkout.  Select 'Show Collection' from the drop down postal options, and then you'll get a second dropdown menu of the upcoming shows.  Choose Carronade from that list and pop your name and email address into the boxes below.  You can then choose to either Pay in Person on the day, or Pay Online through PayPal/card in advance.
