You know those twee little cottages and indeed castles .

is there a common scale ?  Are there any close to 1/150 ?

I was thinking the castle range like Eilean Donan .

I have several by Michael Winter, Lilliput Lane and assorted others. They seem to range between 6mm and 15mm for the houses. Some of the castles look as though they might do for 3mm.

I've bought all mine cheap (roughly 50p - £5) from charity shops.

I carried a ziplok bag containing a 6mm, 10mm and 15mm figure, for a while, to check approximate scale.

Thanks for this.  Those in pristine condition with "deeds and box" are the rich collector's end and fetch three figures.

The other end of the scale - with chipping and damage can be in the £5 price zone, especially charity shops.

As you rightly say, "the fit the box " culture means a variety of scales.  The old England/Scottish houses would suit ECW or indeed AVBCW.

I love the ziplock bag !  :)

Cunning idea on the ziplock bag. As everyone has said, they vary depending on the box size.
Sometimes I wonder - why is that frisbee geting bigger - and then it hits me!

Sunray

Yes.  I need an objective - a Royal palace to capture.

Edinburgh Castle,  Buck House, Tower of London - or indeed any castle close to 1/600

Fish tanks?

By that I mean the plethora of fortifications available for aquariums.

It's roughly 1/1000 rather than 1/600 (at least some of the forum would see that as an advantage!) but Brigade Models Small Scale Scenery includes a number of smallish castles and fortifications plus a relatively new modular castle system.

As an example, a tenner gets you either of these

Or you can buy the bits separately and go to town!

I like the bridge castle. Want one.

Dunno why.
I have neither the time or the crayons to explain why you are wrong.
