Well; the armies turned up, just need to get my mind around playing it out seeing the painting mojo has gone and deserted me again:

Very interesting - the one in 1526 is so much better known.  ;)

Looks really good though. Your terrain layout is very effective, and I like how visibly different the armies are.

(I have a 15th century Hungarian Matthias Corvinus army myself. Bought a book on Hungarian heraldry to get the coats of arms right. Got a painting service to do the army for me. Hardly ever used it; it's cost me about £100 a game.)

Thanks for your interest folks.

Always preferred figs to dates ;)

I shot myself in the foot years ago by not sticking to the same scale for all my eastern armies.  Currently I've got Ottomans in 15mm and 1/72 (WIP), Muscovites in 1/72, Hungarian Allied in 15mm and Polish and Early Swedish in 10mm.  Could've been great gaming fodder there.

I like the hex terrain but is definitely more suited to 10mm figures than larger, in this case 15mm.  It's perception more than anything else, 10mm armies would have the same number of units on the same size bases (width maybe not depth).  I need to sort out high ground as the applique hills don't fit well.

I found this video of the battle and thought it was really inspirational.
Perhaps it will re-kindle the fires !   I know that, because of this, I will
eventually raise both sides so that I can play it out.

Spectacular stuff.  To make it like that I need several times the figures!

The game is stumbling along, just finished Turn 1, the Hungarians. Now it's the turn of the Ottomans.  Slow process as I'm VERY unfamiliar with the rules  :-[

You'll struggle to get the Hungarians in 10mm. The Kallistra figures are too early, Pendraken Poles don't really fit the bill either.

15mm for the small stuff; Lancashire Games look more the part for the Hungarians and are a better price, these are the ones I used but could have chosen better, though in my defence I think the range has expanded since then.

Had to abandon it, I had given myself too many problems, as far as it got:

I tried commenting on your blog but not sure if it went through. I really like the looks of this game and it caused me to go back a read about Mohacs...which lead down yet another interesting rabbit hole!  :)

It didn't, thanks for trying anyhoo.

Rabbit holes I know about; 15th through to 17th centuries are just too interesting and have too much scope for a weak-willed toy soldier nerd  :D ~X(

Kind of giving it a rest by building Airfix' Mary Rose kit.

Enjoy the rigging !

Hmmm. Built the little HMS Victory and went way over the top on the rigging.  Sticking to the minimum this time and using the sails, they hide a multitude of sins:
