Yes I am very pleased with how these guys turned out, the tussock clumps work really well ;)  Paul talked about the painting technique he used for them a few posts up the thread.

Blimey better get on with sorting out bases, labels etc for the Gordons then....time for some command figures next....using a mix of ECW and LOA range mounted generals for these along with highland officers for MacColla's and couple of other highland colonels to lead the highland foot.

Well I now know more about Gordon heraldry than I did before....Made up cornets for the Gordon Horse troops (they are all going to be small units in FK&P terms) using various Gordon coats-of-arms since one of the source books I have (Steve Ede-Borrett's Flags of the ECW Vol 2) says that at least one Royalist unit carried a cornet with heraldic arms of Invine of Drum on it so others my also have used them...good enough for me  ;)

Bases and labels done too.

Six troops of Gordon Horse based, just need to flock/clump the bases and add the cornets to the command stands to complete them.

Flocked bases and added some gamer grass tufts......I'm counting these guys as good quality Swedish Horse under FK&P since the Gordon Horse seemed to best their Covenanter cavalry opposition every time they met, but each unit is only of troop strength (small units in FK&P terms - if they take one hit they are removed).

At Kilsyth, Montrose's largest battle, he had around 600 horse in total, so 6 troop sized units is appropriate. They will be led by Lord George Gordon and Viscount Aboyne, both of whom were impetuous enough to be classed as gallant gentlemen.

I use an Epson inkjet to print my flags but ran out of one lot of ink so they will have to wait till I get to the local stationary warehouse for a replacement.

Fighting trial Indian Mutiny V&B wing scale battles are pretty quick then?  ;)

I finished the 6 troops of Gordon Horse by adding the cornets to the flagpoles (with a short brass rod extension to the flagpole in a couple of cases).

As these are only troop sized units (small units in FK&P terms) and I needed 4 extra stands to properly complete the rear ranks of the two Covenanter Dutch Horse bodyguards (Leven's and Argyll's) I decided to depict Lord George Gordon's and Aboyne's troops with 3 stands but to drop the others to 2 stands. There were enough suitable pistol armed figures in the mix I had to make the back rank of the bodyguards look fairly convincing.....while all the troopers would be armoured to some degree I doubt all of them would be fully equipped with "lobster" 3/4 plate so I have the front rank in plate and the rear in mainly steel helms and some body armour.

I will take a few pictures when I have the chance.

On to artillery and command stands next.....and progressing some other projects.
