That last set of pics was pretty amazing.

The last 30 hedges have had their clump foliage applied :)
10 hedges have been soaked and PVA and dry brushed so are ready to flock :)
The other 260 are finished #:-S

I've labeled the Pub as "The Fox" and varnished half the buildings :) :)
Then I ran out of varnish ~X(
I'll have to get some more on Monday :-w

I've had to cut and prepare 18 more chit bases and once these are painted and labeled all the chit sets will be up to full strength :!! :)
They will also be in the varnishing queue :-w

This weekend I'm aiming to:

  • buy foam for the hills
  • cut out the hills to go under the base clothes
  • buy some felt to mark the woods and muddy area
  • cut out and begin painting the felt

I am grateful that you did mention the dilute PVA as it has made the hedges much more robust and your advice was most helpful :)

I must admit that it is the most frustrating and time consuming step in the whole process ~X( ~X( ~X(

The extra chits have been labeled :)

The last 40 hedges have been dry brushed and 20 of them flocked :) :)
The next 20 will get done once I've finished my cup of tea and got off the forum ;)

All hedges flocked and flock touched up :) :)

Looking at my list for this weekend the results are mixed

  • buy foam for the hills - the cost of foam has gone up since I last bought some :o X_X
  • cut out the hills to go under the base clothes - I need to talk to our regular host about a plan B :-\
  • buy some felt to mark the woods and muddy area - all bought :)
  • cut out and begin painting the felt - I've cut out most of Cheriton Wood :) I need to get the rest done & get painting :!!

I also need to buy more varnish tomorrow

I bought more varnish and managed to get the last of the buildings varnished after work :) :)

I've come up with a plan C for the hills, will call and price it up tomorrow :-SS

Cut out all the felt :)

Definitely not varnishing weather today :(
Next week is looking better :-w :)

Plan C will work for the hills, polystyrene foam ordered :)
I'll collect it on Thursday and start cutting it to shape :!!

All the felt is painted :)

The weather took a surprising turn for the better :o :)

All remaining chits varnished :)

30 of the last 40 hedges have been varnished :) :) :)
The last 10 will have to wait until tomorrow as I'll soon lose the sun :-w

I collected the expanded polystyrene I'd had cut into 1200x600 sheets (4'x2' in old money) :)

They were much easier to cut than I had feared #:-S :)
I've even ended up with one spare sheet through careful use of the various off cuts :-B :)
The good weather allowed me to cut them outside which has avoided any domestic disharmony ;)

These sheets will be used under a fleece base cloth to form the ridges required for Cheriton and I'm sure many more ridges and hills in the future
So they don't need as much protection as hills that go on top of the table
I would like to minimise the shedding of small balls of expanded polystyrene, to avoid upsetting hall cleaners and vehicle owners if nothing else

So a question for the forum, how best to simply and cheaply 'seal' the 11m2 of sheets  :-\

I've found some acrylic house paint left behind by the previous house owner :-\
I've painted an off cut and it doesn't look to have had any adverse effect  #:-S
So I better get painting all the pieces I cut out on Thursday :!!

I've also set up for a test/practice game this evening, will be interesting to see how it goes  ;)
