Based yesterday afternoon :)

Next batch, two more units of Foot and three Forlorn Hopes, undercoated yesterday afternoon :)

Flock touched up this morning :)

The cold last night, 0 degrees, has slowed the drying of my basing mix so these won't get finished today :(

The forecast for next week is a mix of rain or showers with strong to gale winds :( :(
It doesn't look like varnishing weather until Saturday or Sunday :-w :-w :-w

Yup...whoever thought of global warming obviously doesnt live in Wellington....4 layers on and still freezing first thing....roll on summer ☺
Though much is taken, much abides; and though
we are not now that strength which in old days
moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are.

Flags added :)
Edges to do :!!

Next batch 'uniform' base colours done :)

What a depressing thought....You're looking forward to your Summer......While we're going downhill towards Winter. :'( :'( :'(

It is mid August and already storms are swirling down from our mountains bringing noticeably COLD air! I shudder at the thought of Winter.
Encumbered by Idjits, we pressed on

My first goal is to paint enough units for the Montgomery scenario from the rule book :!!

Then I'll probably do the extras for the Lessie's Moor scenario from the TtS forum :-\

Looks like we might have a period of varnishing weather today, unfortunately I will be stuck in the office in town ~X(

This is the reason I hand varnish everything.

Finished base coating the hats, boots and shoes :)

Varnishing weather once it warmed up so sprayed the sabots and some 'fillers' :)
The plan was to spray the figures about now, unfortunately clouding over so I've have to hold off for a while :-w :-w

Highlighted the hats and boots :)

Some of the cloud blew through so figures have been varnished and are currently drying :) :)
Pictures tomorrow when hopefully there will be less cloud :-w :-w

My next batch will include some Colonels, Generals and Commanding Generals. These will be 2, 3 or 4 figures on a 40x40mm base.

Given that most troops will be on sabots should I base the officers on double thickness bases so they are at the same height as the troops :-\

Sounds Like a plan if that will even out a possible height difference. In my SYW armies I have rounded the base corners to make the officers stand out even more.

What about making sabots for them? Or a removable under base - magnets or something to keep them attached.

Then, if you ever want to include the figures within the regimental sabot, or use them with a different rules set, they will fit seamlessly.
(I know, even though it's fantasy  :o  ;)  )

paulr

Leman, it will even out the height difference. Commanders, attached Light Artillery or Shot and Dragoon horse holders will be the only troops on 40x40 The officers are the only ones of those with labels, which are deeper than the unit labels. I think they'll stand out ok

Interesting suggestions O Dinas Powys  :-\
I'm unlikely to want them on the sabots and given the small number of figures involved re-basing X_X would probably be less work than building the sabots

I think I'll go with double bases

Stockings done on current batch :)
Waiting for it to warm up enough to paint, got down to -3 overnight :-w
