Now that the order for this project has arrived its time to start a painting diary :)
The original thread for this project can be found here http://www.pendrakenforum.co.uk/index.php/topic,17224.msg253888.html#msg253888

I've sorted Pierre the Shy's figures out and will arrange getting them to him :!!

I tried a test glue of one of the sabots and was pleased to find they went together very easily :)

I've also sorted my order into units, this was mainly to check my calculations :-
I'm pleased to say I seem to have got them right and have all the figures I need for the units I want #:-S

Officers, Artillery and casualties on the left
Horse, Dragoons, Forlorn Hopes and Rabble in the centre
Foot battalia on the right

I did a quick test using blu-tack to check how the foot battalia will base up

Blimey that was quick work - maybe Mollinary's 48 hour estimate was correct  ;)

The sabots seem to work well. Glad we got them with a bigger lip at the back as our detailed labels would not have worked on the thinner edges.

This should keep us entertained for quite a while.

Are you sure you have enough?

As one of our gaming friends says "you can never have too much lead"
Though much is taken, much abides; and though
we are not now that strength which in old days
moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are.

I thought I had enough AWI when I finished my first project, just finishing up the extra 1,200 of the second project ;) ;D

The AWI Germans have vacated my painting rods so...

A unit of Horse and a unit of Foot have been prepared and washed :)

They will be put on the rods and hopefully undercoated today :!!

Really looking forward to seeing what you can do with these, having seen the magic you worked on the AWI figures,

That looks a very neat way to prepare your troops.

Each of the foot units has figures from 6 different packs so I wanted to sort them all at once to make sure I had ordered the right proportions :-\

It also allowed me to juggle the mix of figures overall rather than risk ending up with too many of one pack/pose left or too few for the last few units
I used most of the EC28 Musketeers, Firing (no rest) I'd ordered in the Forlorn Hopes so the battalia each got one more EC03 Musketeers, Cap than planned

As I paint the units I will probably do some more swaps between units to vary the proportions, e.g. one unit with more firing muskets another with more advancing musketeers

I've gone with one third of the horse regiments with hats EC09, one third with helmets EC10, and the remaining third 50/50 hats and helmets
Some of the 50/50 units will be two brigaded regiments, one in hats the other in helmets. Others will be a mix of helmets and hats
Hats and helmets are spread roughly equally between Royalist and Parliament

First paint applied for this project :)

Horses base coated :)
Jackets and trousers base coated, those in unit colours anyway :)

Going with a uniform look would be much quicker but I think the units will look much better with some figures in different colour jackets and or pants :-\

I do admire your dedication to a project once started. Also I have at last bitten the bullet and bought FK&P - will be using 15mm as I have shed loads that have been waiting for a suitable set of rules for at least 15 years.

FK&P give a very good game with plenty of period feel
