It's been quite spell since our last FK&P game so it was good to get back into things C17 last night....even down to Handel and Vivaldi music playing in the background  :)

I think you will agree that all the work that Paul's done for the Cheriton refight has really paid off when you see the pictures.

I will leave it up to Paul to report on the game itself  :-X  ;)

we are not now that strength which in old days
moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are.

While waiting for the day to warm up I've put up a brief report http://www.pendrakenforum.co.uk/index.php/topic,18115.msg275572.html#msg275572

Now onto painting more polystyrene hills to seal them :!!

Further good progress on painting the polystyrene sheets :)
Only 2 left to do :!!

I should probably paint the second side of each sheet and do a second coat on the edges :!! :!!
Hopefully the weather will cooperate  :-w

Weather finally looking promising for painting today :)
Unfortunately I will be in the office at work  ~X(

Forecast for Tuesday is looking promising  :-w

Made some more victory coins, this will allow me to have the armies fight longer if the first game finishes too quickly

The second of my test/practice games for Easter went well http://www.pendrakenforum.co.uk/index.php/topic,18115.msg275869.html#msg275869

I've now resorted all the troops and double checked everything :-B

A few things left to do:

  • print information sheets for the public and game banner
  • print updated version of the QRS
  • paint last 2 polystyrene sheets
  • varnish 4 extra victory 'coins'
  • paint second side of all the polystyrene sheets
The last three are weather dependent but not critical :-w

So with 11 days to go I'm left pondering what I've missed :-\

Seams like youve been pretty thorough.
Maybe you've missed beer and the great outdoors?

I have to admit it can be a right hoo-ha putting on a display/participation game, and I sometimes wonder if those who've never done it realise this. Mind you, I still think, particularly with display games, that there should be a club member free at all times to chat to the public while the game is being played.

The players are a disparate group from, I think, 4 different towns/cities rather than a club so finding a volunteer to be free at all times would be a challenge

I agree that we need to be accessible to the public and make a point of talking to anyone that shows an interest, this is something I'll be emphasising in the player briefing

We also have good signage and a one page background for any one who wants to read it

The weather didn't cooperate on Saturday :(

But Sunday dawned fine and clear and unfortunately about 3 degrees C :o

It finally warmed up enough to begin painting the second side and second coat of the edges of the remaining sheets by about 10am :-w :)

Almost all done :)

I ran out of paint with about half the last side of the last sheet to do ~X(

I realised I was running short so made sure I did the edges and the side near the edges so that will have to do

Unfortunately l wont be able to join Paul this Easter...my daughter took a bad tumble out a window and has been in hospital with a broken rib and cracked vertibrae....she was very lucky but will make a full recovery hopefully. In a spinebrace for 2 monfhs which means Lisa and l will have our hands full for a while..... will have to work with Paul on the Scots and get my W3K experience later in the year.

The really good news is l have been with her in the ward today and she's walking round quite normally. 2019 has been pretty challenging so far and theres still 7 months to go....

So sorry to here this news, Peter.  :(
Very frightening. May she heal quickly and may you and Lisa and your family be strengthened.
Sleep with clean hands ...

I think Bill has said it all.

Good to hear she's up and about, Peter.

Best wishes - Phil
