Thanks for starting them  8)

Continuing our approach of doing up enough units to fight a scenario I am starting with Alford.....a reasonably small affair.

These guys will be part of Balcarres' Covenanter cavalry brigade.

I had some spare painting rods so I added the three units of Royalist cavalry I'd already prepared :-[
All 6 units now undercoated :)

I'm giving the newly based batch a bit longer to dry as there was a frost overnight :o

We played a very enjoyable game of FKaP last night :) :) :)
I'll be putting together an AAR with piccies :!!

So enjoyable, in fact, that the group has agreed to play test the Stow on the Wold scenario that Simon Miller has developed :)
I just need to make another 9 hedges by next week :!!

Yes it was great to play the scenario with fully completed units and I think our "newbies" enjoyed themselves last night.

I'll let Paul tell the story of the game, though I think there might be a Parliamentry Committee set up to investigate certain matters.....I think we might be offered free passage to Virginia or the West Indies  :-X :o

I have a question about the EC20 Scots cavalry
The sword armed trooper is wearing what looks to be 'quilted' armour covering his chest and back :-\
Is this a quilted buff coat, some type of metal armour, or something else entirely :-\

EC20 are wearing "Jacks". Quilted cloth or light leather often with metal plates sewn inside. Generally buff color (but not limited to)..
Here is a discussion:

As you can see they have been around for quite awhile. The Border Reivers from the previous century favored them.

Thanks for that DGuy - confirms what we went for in the end (leather/buff coat of some sort since Scots were not generally using any metallic body armour in this period).

Thanks d_Guy that's what I thought but I like to double check when painting someone else's figures ;)

As Stow on the Wold was the final battle of the First Civil War I hope the Parliamentary forces do better this weekend and emulate the historical result of the battle.
