In looking through the newest listings from Caliver Books I found the above title, a set of campaign and tactical rules for Montrose 1644-45.
I had never heard of them but given my obsession with such things (Montrose, not parboiled heads) I would like to know more.

They are listen on the Geek - designed and self-published by Neil Danskin - but not much more info:

Does anybody know anything about them?

"Then Place My Parboiled Head Upon A Stake" ... at which point the waiter fainted.

Is it just me or are rule set names becoming more bizarre?

You may have noticed that the only notes at the Geek are essentially,  "yes, the title Is correct".

I think we could open a fun thread for the most outrageous rules titles.

"I've Just Been Shot In the Bum, Mum!" as the supplement to a well-known rules set.

I liked the cowboy rules, for really, really hard men (like Geordies) who refused to wear a shirt - "Onve Upon a Time in a Vest".

Hello d_Guy

I remember that Neil Danskin wrote some works for the UK P&S Society back in the 90s. Maybe they can provide feedback for you. I just had a look and he wrote another rule set in 1991 called Lion of the North which were described as 'detailed' if that helps.

Edit.

Found this on http://thewargameshed.blogspot.com/2013/06/rules-for-montrose.html

Quote"IIRC Neil Danskin did a specialised set of rules for Montrose/ Covenantor warfare in the 1990s which as available through the Piek and Shot Society called "Place my Parboiled Head on a Spike", which I remember reading and liked a lot. I haven't got a copy but they were worth tracking down as they were very flavourful. I'm sure someone, somewhere has a copy knocking around - they're definitely worth a read through"

Cheers

Thanks Grumpy! useful info as always.

I ordered in from caliver - interested in how the campaign is structured, maps and so on.
15£ almost prevented me getting it but trying to collect everything from this period.

I'm sure Pierre the Shy will be interested in your thoughts on it ;) :)
