I am not an expert by any means, but I am currently watching an enthralling programme on BBC 4 on the above subject. Would be fascinated to hear experts' views on this, but it seems first class to me. May be worth catching on BBC iPlayer?

Watched the first 10 minutes or so and didn't seem too bad. Lots of nice footage. Will catch up on iplayer later on in the week.

If you are interested there are some good books out there on this kind of thing. It has been a while since I read them but I remember these ones - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Montys-Men-British-Liberation-Europe/dp/0300205341/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_14_t_2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=CV53ZBRX97B15EEHWRWM and https://www.amazon.co.uk/British-Armour-Normandy-Campaign-Buckley/dp/0714653233

John Buckley has done some others and featured on the TV programme. He is also a gamer, most ancients as far as I know.

i also found this documentary, it is available on YouTube to watch albeit in not quite HD.

It's refreshing to see an account of what went on after dday, as most documentaries focus on the initial invasion only.

Through German Eyes (no, not the Christopher Duffy book on the Somme) D Day as seen and reported by the defenders is available in its entirety on YOUTUBE, slightly wooden delivery but very interesting nonetheless.
Don't buy your daughters a pony, buy them heroin instead, its cheaper and ultimately less addictive.

Think I put a link to this on the YouTube thread in "Resources".

Was it the version where he did slightly worrying German accents?

There's also book 2 on there as well.

It's a very interesting read/listen.

Yes, a bit 'Allo Allo' however a good narrative. BTW just found the 'The Krupps' on YOUTUBE too, audiobook recording, ditto a bit wooden but really interesting.
