Nice finds, yet again, D.

(Though I'm going to have to Google 'Ghanavids'......Never heard of them before  today.  :-[)......Right, I know now. :)

Do you mean the Graham Turner painting? 
"Where are their heads?" would be more appropriate for the main wall paintings.

 Where is his left arm? A shield that small you'd expect to see his hand?

Presumably the grip of the shield is behind the boss, therefore the hand and arm are obscured?
