Philip Roth.

I'm flat on my back at the moment with some sort of virus, and am listening to the Radio 4 Today programme. Apparently he was the best thing since sliced bread.

Never read him.

Anybody else read him?

FierceKitty

Self-indulgent east coast American. Think Woody Allen without the wit he once had.
I don't drink coffee to wake up. I wake up to drink coffee.

Ben Waterhouse

Used naughty words, so the emotionally arrested adolescents that run our culture love(d) him...
Arma Pacis Fulcra

Awww!

Clint Walker had a cool name, was very tall and very buff.

Sort of chap one aspired to when I were a lad.

I second Nobby's ! "Awww".  :(

Decent innings, tho'.

Cheers - Phil

Steve J

A damned good innings and a great name as others have said. Also looked pretty big in the Dirty Dozen.

Ithoriel

Norman Eugene Walker - no wonder he went by "Clint" :)

Brings back memories of watching various Westerns on the telly with my father.

Elliesdad

In the late 1980s we had an Alsatian dog called Bodie. Yes, of course he was named after the Clint Walker character.

As a young child I'm told I used to sit on the back of our settee (imagining it was a horse) when Cheyenne was on TV. Ahhh - the old days. But now I've just turned 60 so I guess it's not just those days that are old.

Leslie Grantham. Perhaps better known as "Dirty Den" from EastEnders.

I was going to mention a 4 letter word - t*xi - but thought that was perhaps uncalled for.

Techno

Naughty.... ;D

Do we know what he died of ?
'They' seem to be being very quiet about that.

Cheers - Phil

Quite. My thought exactly.

Did anyone mention PETER Stringfellow? Died a couple of weeks back, family keeping the details quiet and minimal fuss. Given how much larger than life and huge self publicist he was that's very restrained!
