Actually, it is not as invisible as you might think! The flags were made from a number of separate pieces of thick silk sown together, and the cross was made up of two 32cm wide strips, sown one over the other, so the outline ought to  be visible. There is an excellent short article on French colours on the Kronoskaf SYW site.

The flag I used had some shading to show the white cross on the white background, unfortunately once glued on the flag staff the shading has disappeared :(

I'm not sure if it was a side effect of the PVA or if the shading was just too subtle :-\

Fortunately the remaining Drapeau Blanc, RĂ©giment de Royal Deux-Ponts, is a little more colourful

Hmmm, can you paint the cross back in by using a slightly grayer shade for it, or for the four corners?

Facing, turn backs, cuffs and belts all painted white :)
