BKC2 Mortars Vs ATG

I may have this wrong, but it appears to me that an 81mm mortar is a better AT weapon than a say a 50mm ATG.

Basically because the 81mm has a far greater range, is cheaper and can hide behind cover out of site. and its AT is 3 rather than the 2 of the ATG.

Do I have this wrong?

But :-

the mortar always requires a 6 to hit, the ATG is able to hit on 4-6 - terrain dependant.

... also mortars don't get the +1 for short range, can't target things within 10cm and are lobbing things that will fall down on to the thinner top armour of armoured vehicles.

German 50mm ATG is AT3 too.

I think there is an element of "right result for the wrong reason," as there is in much of the Warmaster inspired rules, which I prefer to the wrong result for the right reason :)
