ECW on the blocks

The overall effect is superb - lovely figures and set off by
those magnificent flags.   Great stuff.

I would be really interested to know how you achieve this
finish.   My guess is that you use brown ink over white u/c
to provide much of the final colour and then add colours as
necessary ?   The flags look particularly good and appear hand
painted.

You should be really proud of these figures - even up close,
they look superb.   

I do wonder if any of the big three wargame magazine editors
would be interested to see these (as well as other great
examples on this Forum) to show just what can be achieved
with smaller scale figures.   I know that Guy Bowers (WSS
Editor) recently put out a call for more 6mm pics on the Baccus
Forum but they might also be interested in 10mm.   Just a
thought.


Looking forward to seeing more of these ECW figures.

I don't see why not. Both WI and WSS have both posted photos in the last couple of months labelling 10mm figures as 6mm!  Indeed, if I am not mistaken, the '6mm'  picture on WSS 93, page 49, is actually of this very range of figures painted as Spaniards.  :o :o ;D

Yep you got Phil. I use a brown undercoat/wash. Sometimes go for black depending on the period (medieval for example ). I do find black difficult to pick out details ....particularly in this scale. I'm new to 10mm so it's been a process of trial and error working out what's best. The flags are hand painted your right, thought I could pull it off for ECW as they're quiet simple most of them....and the complicated ones I'll just avoid  ;D

Never thought about sending in pictures to magazines but I suppose they're always on the hunt for new material?... if you think these are up to it? I'm amazed at the standard of painting in here, have been from the first day I popped in. The beautiful clean well sculpted mini's makes them a joy to work on...think it shows in the painting.

Few more bits n bobs finished off. Artillery and two units of Royalist cavalry. Camps are coming Zippee   :]] .... I had to order some some more gear first.
