I tried wallpaper pasting tables very many years ago.  They were too fragile.

The strong ones that you can get now (See my earlier post) are very different to a traditional paste table. Albe bach has two and you can lean on them with no issues

I've been using plastic paste tables for about five years now. Never had any real problems. Worst thing is the gap down the centre, we use to sis-by-side to give 6' by 4'. Just cover it up with a few sheets of thin card taped in place.

Wilko have them in for £20, which is about half the price I originally paid for mine.
