I am thinking seriously about buying a 3d printer, having seen some great Kick-starters offering files for you to print.

Do any of the forum have a 3d printer at home?

Does anyone use one for work on a regular basis?

Any other advice before I take the plunge?

I've been following the development for several years now for masters, the definition on the spool fed is not good enough for the quality needed on small vehicles, you need to look at the system for firing a laser through resin giving better results.  Formlabs Form 2 was the one I was looking at but the price of the resin baths put me off.

I have a Makerbot Replicator 2, and use it on a weekly basis - cost me £275!

If you are going to be like me and just do home printing then something like a Replicator is fine.
If you are going to print on a commercial basis then you need to up the ante and pay for a far better printer

I'm more than happy with the results from my Replicator - it does what I want! 👍

Also, before spending money on files, use yeggi.com to find free files.
