Dazza,
That was basically what I was stealing ideas from inspired by when I found this second hand batch had 150+ Eldar jet bikes! Instant army, just needed reprinting and rebasing!  ;D
Just wasn't sure about rounds, but the more I see, the more I like!

Okay, so round bases, like this then (when measured, actually 27mm)!

Also converted a farseer and harlequin as leaders (3 to a base chaps).

I have started to use hexagonal bases for my 28mm skirmish figures, in Lion Rampant. Will post pics when painted.

I feel it gives the individual look and the formed unit look in one

lovely models, but I have a bit of a thing about bases that are too thick; with 'too thick' being anything you can see the edge of, top of my basing hate list are plastic slot bases.  Consequently I use thin steel bases whenever possible, even for figures which should be on grotty slotty ones.

So I'd have voted for an option not listed by Will, 25mm round steel.

I know they are practical but to my eye a 2mm base under 10mm figures looks like they're standing on a step.  I just like bases which blend into the table top as much a possible and the thinner the bas, the easier it is to achieve.
