Hi

Just posted the message below on the Specialist Military Publishing - BKC forum, but as I know that several people here contribute to that site as well thought it was worth posting here as well:

Hi

Just resurrecting this interesting thread as I have exactly the same issue as Steve J in his original post.
Can I just clarify if it was thought that the best way to represent the carrier platoon in a (late) British Infantry battalion using BKCII, was with a couple (or more) of Universal Carriers (transport units) each carrying an Infantry Unit with PIAT upgrades (actually the rules as written say that a Universal Carrier can only transport a mortar unit or tow an anti-tank gun?) or with a couple (or more) Bren Carriers (support units), which cannot transport any units.

My understanding is that the carrier platoons were actually equipped with Universal Carriers.

I'm trying to sort out Orbats based on 1 unit = 1 platoon and must admit finding it as confusing as they seem to have found about how to use the carrier platoon in real life!

Anyway thanks for any help.

Cheers Paul

I put together some Order of Battle diagrams a few years ago for BKC - this is the one for a British Infantry Brigade.
For the Carrier platoon I went with a rifle platoon, 2 carriers, and 1 wasp (this is for 44+). Clearly I must have been allowing the infantry to ride in the carriers.

But there are many ways you can put this together at 1 stand to 1 platoon scale. BKC has the advantage of abstracting suff quite heavily so you can probably come up with something that works.
