Have the Russians been totally 'kicked out' of this years Olympics ?

Does this mean the Russian shot put champion, Anna Bollik-Steroyd, will be unable to compete ? (Sorry....I think I've nicked that one from an edition of Private Eye from decades ago.)

The shot putter was Nadzeya Ostapchuk, a Belarusian.

A VERY touchy subject in NZ

Has anyone been watching the Olympics on TV (aka the 'Lympics' - England - and the 'Alympics' - Scotland)? As a Brit, Im obviously very proud of our record so far (2nd in the Medal Table). This Im sure is not down to dedication, skill, determination and improved coaching etc. alone, but also better funding from such sources as the National Lottery (and possibly because one or two other nations - no names mentioned but one begins with the letter R - are no longer able to get away with cheating so easily now  Tongue).

However, with all of this physical prowess on display from our fellow Brits, we, as wargamers, with our sedentary pursuits might be feeling a tad guilty with regard to leading a lifestyle that may not be considered the most healthy.  Well, worry not my fellow British table top warriors. We are not as different from our medal winning athletes as you may think.

Because if you look at our medalists, you will see that 25 of our 56 medals (so far) were won by folks who also sit on their backsides! *   Embarrassed

* Cycling, equestrian (or dancing horses, as Mrs W. calls it), rowing, sailing and canoeing.

P.S. In keeping with my athletic nature, I am about to have a Cornish clotted cream and jam scone. What's the best way to have this? Should I spread the jam on first with the cream on top or spread the clotted cream on first with the jam on top?  Undecided

I would be more interested in the nationality of the medal winners of Team GB&NI.

Anyone got one?

Don't ask me.  My interest in sport, rated on a scale of 10 - 100, is about -1
