I'm currently reading the Frontier Scouts by Charles Chenevix Trench and although I haven't finished it yet I would recommend it to those that have an interest in the NWF or for those who enjoy just a good read. The book is a collection of stories about serving British Officers over the locally raised troops from the Pushtu/Pathan tribes and their trials and tribulations in the the 1920's - 1930's. There are ambushes and retreats galore with incidents ranging from an British officer being shot dead whilst asleep by one of his soldiers because his feet pointed to Mecca to observations on the local birds! (feathered variety)

I've attached a link about the author which might whet the appetite of others as he wrote another 18 books http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/obituaries/1448007/Charles-Chenevix-Trench.html
