My wargaming buddy died in November 2013.

With the agreement of his family I took all his hobby stuff away to sell for charity.

It took 14 carloads, boot, backseat, front passenger seat, floor to ceiling to get it all home.

The painted stuff was sold fairly easily, two 2000 point Warmaster armies, very large Warhammer EPIC army, dozens of Warhammer units, two large 10mm WW2 armies, fifty cowboys, over 100 books, dozens of role playing figures, fantasy and sci-fi, lots of terrain.

Then there was the unfinished and unstarted stuff, I finished it all, took about 2 years.

That pretty well cleared his backlog although I have a few bits and pieces left.

I raised about £10,000 for charity most of which went to Combat Stress but some went to a few other charities.

I am now trying to clear my own backlog. However I am older than my mate was, been collecting longer and I'm still buying stuff and I already have more than he had. If I stopped buying now (unlikely) it would probably take me 3 years to finish what I've got.

I don't think I'll ever clear my backlog.

Not that I've re-invented the wheel but, I've found a brilliant, time-saving solution (thanks Skywalker!)

Star Wars X-Wing. Pre-painted miniatures. Buy it. Unpackage it. Play it. And loads of people around me play it, so I'm hoping to really get back into the swing of regularly playing games.

Went into my local board game and collectable card game hobby store today, they sell X-Wing, and I've been told to pop back and join in with games with them when I've the time.

Of course, none of the above will help me to clear my wargaming backlog  :-[

Can I interest you in some 'as-new' Peter Pig old west buildings? Church/2x stores/lean-to building?

I bought them with the intention to do DMH in 15mm, but I've ended up doing it in 28mm instead.

I do the same thing!

I always tell myself to not buy anything new to work on untill i have finished something. If i haven't painted anything in a few months, and i have some cash to spare, i just buy some x wing stuff or axis and allies: war at sea wich is also pre painted. That way i don't add to the to do pile, and still get new toys to play with  :D

So with the completion of 1,000pts of IJA for Bolt Action, I've now moved on to a Blitzkrieg German HQ for the same. I have also just undercoated my High Elf Knights as I'll be getting onto my Warband stuff now.  :D

Hi all,

I can relate to this topic.  I have like most of us the lead mountain and it has been growing steadily over the past 4 years, more so than usual.  Everything from Flames, Bolt Action, SAGA etc etc etc.  Just before Christmas some of my local Flames gamers decided they wanted to get into something different, like Black powder.  I love the napoleonic period so I said yes lets do Naps! :-bd
So it was decided.  I had a month off coming in December after a busy year. So on the 26th of December I pulled out my draw of British and Portuguese Naps and started work..  I found a few battles, put together some Brigades and Division structures.  I picked up the paint brush on the evening of the 27th of December and my last brush stroke was on 30 Jan.  Here is the result of a months painting. 



Now I know we have deviated from our 10mm focus on this forum, and I have shared my first step into 10mm with the AWI.  BUt I just wanted to share this.   :)

I would really like to produce a couple of massive armies in 10mm.  An Austro-Hungarian Army from the SYW and union Army for ACW.  (not to mention finishing off my British/Hessian AWI)

So this is my year of the paint brush.  Armies sitting on the bench started and need to be finished:
