I must say i like the rules a lot, them being free is just a bonus. Being a regular BKC player, i wanted something else than a warmaster based ruleset for my ACW battles, and these fit the bill for me.

Once you get the hang of them, they are simple and give a good game.There is some 'battlefield friction' in there with how morale works, and the way your troops can get fatigued when you push them too much.

an example: you can make your units move at 'the double quick' once, without penalty. Do it twice in a row and you roll a d6 ,1-3 means they get fatigued, and will only move at normal pace untill they get a rest (meaning they don't move for a turn)

Simple mechanics that force you to make choices!

Yup nothing ACW.

But about 150 zombie/future army/civilians
about 220 28mm fantasy
about 100-150 LOTR
a gazillion 6mm epic
+ - 100 gw imperial guard and half a dozen tanks
about 1000 20mm guys for all kinds of things
my 2mm napoleonic armies
and some random stuff like pirates,adventurers, steampunk, pulp minis etc...

I think i'll manage in the meanwhile.

As a matter of fact, i think i'll never manage painting them before the kids graduate  ;D

Very nice indeed I'm extremely envious of your finished armies :) mine should be finished next year sometime.

How many ACW infantry do you need?
More than you have.

Can I buy some more artillery?
Only if you buy more infantry.

Cavalry?
You've already got too much.

But only a fifth is Cavalry!
WHAT?  Buy more infantry IMMEDIATELY.
I have neither the time or the crayons to explain why you are wrong.

Nice stuff, Peter. I do like the Pendraken ACW range. If the revamped ACW range had come out sooner, I wouldn't have invested so much with Peter Pig in 15mm, and probably gone for Pendraken in 10mm instead (which would certainly have helped make a few subsequent decisions even easier if I had).   :-bd
I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be.
