The figs i have are LotR range from gw. I really like them but have used them once or twice in 2 years. I really would like to play lotr but skirmish rules get boring after a while and i dont have enough energy or a dumper truck to roll the amount of dice needed for wotr lol. Hmmmm...

10 28mm figures will fit nicely onto a 10x5cm base.  Its actually pretty close to Mantic's small units in their Kings of War rules.  If you have about 80-100 figures per side, you're good to go.

Yep i reckon i can just about stretch to that. It will at least get me started.
