What to do with Byzantines....

Bear with me please, I'm post night shift.....

I was clearing through my wargames cupboard today and came across a Magister Militum 10mm Byzantine Army still in its bags that I knew I had but had forgotten if you know what I mean :-[

I'm still desperate to get into Warband, I've had the rules since they came out but I just dont have the financial clout at the moment to go investing in new shiny-shinys.

Is there an army list in WB that would lend itself well to a mix of heavy infantry, skirmishers, cataphract cavalry and lighter supporting cavalry? There is no artillery in the army as it exists and only a handful of archers and clearly no magic users or monsters.....

Or should I sell the lot and just buy new?
I don't think my wife likes me very much, when I had a heart attack she wrote for an ambulance.

Haven't got the list to hand right now, but that sounds either like a great Dragon Men or High Elf list! ;)

I think Elves might be a good match - they allow heavy cavalry as a core choice.

Dragon Men would be a good match if you want to go more skirmish-y

You should be able to get a good core from your existing figures - then if you want to add the odd monster or mage base these could be added quite cheaply - in Warband both these types tend to have quite a low figure density.

I think they'd be pretty good as Byzantines on big bases for Impetus.

I gave some thought about creating a byzantine army to the Warband standard. Note that nothing is finalized and it doesn't try to portray a particular byzantine army:

General (1d6+2 down to 1d6-1 CP): MT 2d6 MV 1 ML 2d6 PR 2d6
No mage of course...
Compulsory units
Skutatoi MT 2d6 Mv 1 SH 1d6 RA 4 ML 2d6 PR 2d6 Formed & Resolute. Shieldwall and Hero as an option
Kavalaroi: MT 2d6 Mv 2, Sh 1d6, RA ML 2d6, PR 2d6, Formed & Fierce. Powzerful and hero as an option
Optional units
Light Cavalry MT 3d6 Mv 2 SH 1d6, RA 1 ML 1d6 PR 1d6. Skirmish. Swift, Parting shot and Fierce as an option
Kataphractoi MT 1d6 Mv 2 ML 2d6 PR 3d6. Formed and resolute. Powerful as an option
Akontistai MT 2d6 Mv 1 SH 1d6 RA 1 ML 1d6 PR 1d6. Skirmish. Parting shot and swift as an option
Menavlatoi MT 2d6 Mv 1 ML 3d6 PR 1d6. Powerful. Fierce as an option.
Bolt Shooters on wagons MT 2d6, Mv 1 SH 2d6, RA 1 ML 1d6 PR 1d6 Defensive, Formed

TORN.........  :-\

Hoping to use my 100YW medievals as Dragon Men.....  :-\

Haven't got any other 10mm armies based for Impetus...... so I would need to invest further to use this option  :-\

May have to revert to the original plan and go FoG Ancients basing and sabot bases to use in FoG, Warband and Impetus. Thanks for the suggestions chaps ;)

I've used sabot bases for all my Warband stuff as most of my figures are based for WM on 40x20mm - the sabots work great.
