Great report stenicplus.   :D

Sounds like some different tactics are needed from the dragon men.

The hill dwarves have posed a very serious archery-shaped question...how will the servants of the dragons answer?

Drop the mage and at least one of the marxcher foot, and get a dragon :) Mind you, trying to come up with anything that can shift dug-in Dwarves that have artillery support is a pretty tall order, especially as they are quite fond of Shieldwall and Resolute....

I think the quickest way to kill a dwarf is let him die of old age....

You can usually outnumber them,  and they aren't very mobile.   Flanks can be vulnerable.  Also,  when facing archery,  blocking terrain can be useful.

Indeed! Although in this game I couldn't get to his flanks due to the two pieces of impassable terrain....

I think there were a number of options... Using my hindsight vision.. ;D

You came with a battle plan before we'd set up and were determined to try it  :-\

The mage might have been better supporting the main battle line or knighly flank attack... A flying knight could have caused have and forced my slow shot archers to turn.

The main battle group could have made greater use of the wood as cover, add magely motivation and send them through as single stands using CPs to help them?

Combine it all with the archers still covering my arty from behind the mountain and I have to react. As it was I hardly moved other than to retrieve crossbow bolts from deceased Dragonmen ;D

Yeap, 28s.

Works fine for us, we do 120mm by 60mm or as close as possible for a stand. So 2 standard 28mm scale 60mm dbx\wrg bases for frontage.

Everything is in Base depths so ranges and moves fit fine. The available tablespace is technically less since our bases cover a larger area but we've not noted any problems yet.

Advancing into the front of well dug in dwarf archers and cannons has proven to be a recipe for disaster!   ;D

Flanks (not many of them so these should be open for exploitation.

Mobility (they're tough but slow).

Magic (Wrath of Prismatic dragons will tear a dwarf gun line to bits).

And consider using the scenarios to force the hill dwarves to have to react to victory conditions other than 'dig in and keep the cannons roaring'!

We haven't tried the scenarios yet - on the to-do list :)
