Good point.  Maybe it gets used in a similar manner to the technique used to sharpen a knife on a whetstone?   :D

OK. Sorry about the quality, but I thought I'd share the fruits of my labour.

The one in the middle is straight from the bottle.

The one on the left is using a 50:50 egg white & water and the one on the right 50:50 egg yolk and water.

I am frankly amazed that the yolk has dried so well. I think there's a bit of a yellowish tinge, and it may be a little silkier than the other.

The egg white seems a little green to me. Could this be because I didn't use distilled water, just boiled (and cooled)?

Again, sorry about the photo quality, but what do you think?

To be honest from the photo they all look the same
If I were creating Pendraken I wouldn't mess about with Romans and  Mongols  I would have started with Centurions , eight o'clock, Day One!

Difficult to tell, Nobby......Possibly the one of the right has the slightest blue/green tinge. (But then, we're all supposed to see colours slightly differently...So who knows.)

I've actually finished my two efforts......And to be honest, I think even Matt (of Munslow) might be impressed. (Said he modestly..... :D)
When you've finished yours......We'll have a 'white off'.
I'll show you mine, etc......Fnrrr, fnrr.

I'm not that good a painter at the best of times.

Actually, I'm quite pleased with the results. The base coat is on, I'll see if I can get the rest done before beddy-time.

It reminds me of a play I saw in the West End many years ago called, "Art." Set in Paris, the story revolves around three friends who find their previously solid 15-year friendship on shaky ground when one buys an expensive painting.

The canvas is white, with a few white lines. Here's what it looked like:-

Curiosity got the better of me.  Plucked up my courage and had a go at painting with egg tonight (not a 10mm Spehs Mareen, though!).  Not sure about the results, but I'll let the test piece dry overnight and see how it looks in the morning and I'll share my findings.

Maybe I'll throw my hat in with the showdown that seems to be brewing, if that's not too presumptuous of me?  I'm hoping that I will not regret my experiment.  I'll be upset if it ends up smelling rotten in a day or two.  You might even say... I'd have egg on my face (can't believe I succumbed to that.  Sorry folks!).

Do you know, I've suddenly come round to this egg painting.

I've been mixing my Vallejo paints with different amounts of egg white and the results are amazing:

Personally, I think painting with egg is: "A Poor Silly Fad!"

Mongoose diet: Mongooses mostly feed on insects, crabs, earthworms, lizards, snakes, birds, and rodents. However, they also eat eggs and carrion.
