Warband Rules and figures - Now available!

I'm liking this about the rules more and more. I love that there is no inherently good and evil races (we've all read the twilight books and know that vampires are actually nice) and I think it gives more opportunity to play factions that you normally might not be drawn to.

 

At the moment I'm thinking my Goblins will be more from frozen wastelands (although how to explain there low % of body fat and lack of clothing I'm no sure yet  ).

If they're ice goblins, they don't need clothing.

My lizard men could be from marsh/swamp areas near active volcanoes making their skin more reddish then green.

Salamanders?   

Barbarians could be from open plains similar to Native American tribes, where Bison & Mammoths roam in huge numbers.

 

And with a few simple ideas a fantasy world is taking shape...who knows the Pendragon community may develop a living Warband world as time goes by.

You...you...you....what?...WHAT?....WHAAAAAAT???.   I don't know which part of that statement to be more outraged about. Next we'll be basing fantasy background on Fifty Shades of frigging Gray, with all the warriors dressed as gimps and armed with riding crops.

When i was a lad we had Tolkien, Runequest, Warhammer and Michael Moorcock. Now it's all vampires shagging and Harry frigging Potter. Young people today, etc.

Lacking in background to give atmosphere. No real "fantasy world" and army lists have minimal background.

I actually prefer fantasy rules without a set background, that way they are more easily adaptable to my own fantasy ideas. Also all the special rules available to the different armies allow players to create the army they want. Warband seems to give a better game than HOTT (although I haven't played that in years) and also has more troop types and spells etc...

If you're planning to do them something like this, i'm really looking forwards to seeing them.   

I had a first attempt at the "Ice Goblin" theme using primarily cold colours and it didn't really work at 10mm, the figures just didn't seem to pop and needed more contrast. They seemed really 'washed out' as a group. I painted the second batch in a brighter, deeper blue with more contrast colours and I'm pretty happy with how they've turned out. I'll now paint all the first Warband base in this scheme and hopefully post pictures soon once they are based.

Next up is the Barbarians, which should be landing from the sculptor sometime in the next couple of weeks.  We're hoping to have them moulded straightaway and released as quickly as possible, so it shouldn't be too far into April.

After those, the Undead will be next up.

Looks like a lot of 10mm figures are going to be zooming around the world.   

Problem is there are so many force choices for Barbarians and Undead.  Hmmmmm, might have to do a few variations on them.   

Roll on April, hang on, that's at least 15 days away, what will we all do inbetween times?   

Guess the answer is simple, attack the lead piles!
