I guess you needed loads more room back then to store all the equipment you would need to make the silver nitrate plates
If I were creating Pendraken I wouldn't mess about with Romans and  Mongols  I would have started with Centurions , eight o'clock, Day One!

Based up most of the lizardmen that I have been painting recently, and a bunch of GW Salamanders that I had painted a while ago, but hadn't based for some strange reason.

Very nice indeed, Forbes ! 8)

Are the 'wossnames' that the lizardmen are mounted on different colours ?
I see those as being a rich blue, for the 5 at the front....Purple for the ones at the back.
A trick of the light, or my eyes playing silly b*ggers ?

Thanks chaps

Phil, the Lizardmen  are riding bigger lizards. Yes they are two colours the smaller ones at the front are blue, they were sprayed blue, and given a dark blue wash.

The larger ones are from the tribal Lizardmen range and are purple.

After a few months ( there always seems to be a gap in the middle of my painting diary threads  :o  ) I've got back to some 10mm stuff.

Over the summer I was a bit distracted with some 28mm plastics, Frostgrave and Saga Crusaders - which were fun to build, but less fun to paint.

So this weekend I actually put some effort into finishing off some 10mm figures. Both some ones painted earlier in the year, plus some more recent purchases.

First up, some Late Era Roman Ballistae - some light conversions of the various light infantry into crews

Some non-Pendraken GW Tuetegon Guards, and Kallistra light cavalry

And some Dwarves for Warband

I think with these I can just about field a Dwarven force from the various figures I already had.

Thanks chaps. It's good to be back painting units rather than individual figures.

Some more different stuff worked on this week

Spiders

These are the new ones - and they are a big improvement on the old ones, and they are big too, a good 25mm across the base.
Not totally sure what colour to go with these, grey, brown, something else?

Artillery Bits

Some Gabions, and some markers for Reload, made from the ECW artillery accessories set (which is very useful for all early horse & musket era armies)

Centaur Archers

Lots of centaur archers, a mix of the new poses and some of the older ones too.
These are about 2/3rds done, a highlight on the flesh to do, and then various detailing.

I'm quite impressed with these photos as they are handheld under the normal desk lamp using my new iPhone, they seem a lot better than ones taken with older iDevices

Lovely work, Fred.

Spiders ?....Try Googling red knee tarantula....There are some nice variants in the images.
(The body is supposed to be based on a tarantula.....With the head of a wolf spider......Don't ask which species....I can't remember  :D)
