Cheers for that.  If anyone's going, a quick report would be great, things like how many trade stands, busy show, stuff like that?  We've already got a pretty hectic show schedule, but we'll always look at extra's.

Britcon is a 4 day event with ALOT of competition gaming. There is a sizeable trade presence and high attendance guaranteed due to all the competition gamers. It starts next Thursday 12th thorugh to Sunday 15th August.

Give them a call, get a table, drive across country and I'll put in a sizeable order  ;D

I'm going to put one in anyway, but would be nice to pick it up on the day and then succumb to impulse purchases too  :D

In fact, I am sitting with pen and paper as we speak to see what I need for Bunker Hill in the British Grenadier rule book.

Pendraken are grrrreat :P

There's no chance of us getting there this year, Dave's just gone away for a week's holiday!  So I'm in charge for the next week!

Oh well, mail order it is then. Order in later tonight ;D

I MAY look at coming up to Border Reiver instead of going to Partizan this year (they're on the same day) But its a fair old drive for me when my wife is due our first baby a week later :o

Realistically I will have to come and say hello at Derby.

Border Reiver's is a good show, we always have a good time up there.  The Derby show is excellent as well, a nice weekend away for us, which gives us time to relax and socialise a bit as well.

Congrat's on the new baby, my missus is due to drop at any moment with our second!

Very excited about the new addition coming, even at my age  :-[

Leon, I will take some piccies and do a small report for the forum. I think it is a great show, and there is a constant level of numbers over the two days browsing the stands due to the number of competitors. I see more and more shows where there is a huge crush in the morning and then from around 1pm almost no one around.

Tim Porter of 'Madaxeman' fame ran a rather large BKC game there a couple of years back which must have generated alot of interest in 10mm.

Magister Militum attend and do quite well I think.  It would be good to see you guys there now that I have seen the light!

That would be great, I'll keep an eye out for it.  You're right about some shows, where everyone seems to disappear.  We find this is always worst with the two day shows.

I went to Britcon today and to be honest wished I hadn't bothered. I have been several times in the past and enjoyed it. Whilst really an event designed for competition there has always been a decent trade presence. I could be wrong but the traders seemed down on previous years. Competition games aren't much to look at. The few demo games were on the whole poor, including a table playing the soon to be released Fields of Glory Napoleonics.

I did pick up 'Black Powder' from the bring and buy for £20 and a nice book on the Crimea, called oddly enough 'Crimea'. There were plenty of people there shopping and as I said before the number of people playing in the competitions must be good news for traders. But, I suspect my apathy was due to me itching to get on with a 10mm project and whilst some of Magister Militums ranges look nice, most of them are a bit spindly. And I have an order on route from endraken so I didn't want to add to the pile unnecessarily. Plus no one was selling the British Grenadier scenario books I was after.

No pictures I am afraid due to my general feeling of malaise.

Cheers Sean, doesn't sound like we missed much then?  We're quite happy with the shows we've got really, but if an exceptional show came along, we'd have a good look at it.

I think if you are a gamer this is the best competition and show in UK, but it is a wargames competition first and trade show second. I went for several years and will be back in 2011.  ;)
