Nifty. But a question: do you need to cover your ears when firing a little mortar?

I'm pretty sure as a child I played in the back garden with the green army man version of exactly these poses.

Personally I don't know; I've used the model as an 81mm (presumptuous of me I know). From British Army's 'Hearing Protection- an Individual Guide':

"...81mm mortar emits 174 dB which exceeds the peak exposure limit". So maybe Italeri were right to model it that way? ;)

Mortars from what I have read let out a lot of gases as well as noise which can effect eyes and ears. Because they fire so rapidly maybe its the build up of noise and gas over several shots that cause people to cover ears and close eyes
If I were creating Pendraken I wouldn't mess about with Romans and  Mongols  I would have started with Centurions , eight o'clock, Day One!

I remember my little sister was much taken with the boinggggg! sound of a light mortar in a TV show in the 70s, and walked around imitating it at great length.

Very nice sir.

However, i'm pretty sure a couple of those mortars are going to deliver a rather counter-productive salvo.  What goes up must come down after all... ;D

Damn, you noticed!  Perhaps I should have shortened the legs; on reflection I think I'll have to, they do look kinda dumb.
