Hello,

just wondering if any novels were written  for the War of 1812 ,  (US, UK, Canada) ?

There's a rather meretricious overture; will that do?

Nothing wrong with the 1812 Overture, however in this case it refers to the wrong war!

Can't remember now why I bookmarked this page but it includes naval fiction set in the War of 1812:

There's "Madness" by somebody called Byrne, which I started and didn't finish. It might grab you though.

Except of course that the two anthems used are anachronisms  :)

And it's heavy-handed Slavic sentimentality (meaning no disrespect to any Poles reading this; one Chopin is worth a thousand Tschaikowskis except for the Glenda Jackson component).

Still less do I mean to be rude to any Czechs, who are a lot more musical still. I just can't type the name of one of my favourite Bohemian composers on this keyboard.
