Cool, it looks like I accumulated sufficient brownie points to participate in this wargame feast.  I must have been doing something right!  Maybe the daily foot massage, back rub and ear nibble session did the trick.

I'm booking the flight asap, just gonna ask my wargame bud whether he can make it as well.  I get it we have a form to fill in?

We've been more board game oriented - ASL has been the game of choice for many years - but I'm confident we'll get the hamg of things soon enough.  What are we expected to bring?

Boardgames: MMP ACW, ASL ᴥ BKC & SSOM - WW2 (In development) ᴥ Flying Lead - Sci-Fi: Shocktroops, Pulp, Spugs ᴥ WH - Greenskins, Dwarfs

Excellent  8) There is a booking form linked here: http://nikharwood.pbworks.com/Nikfest

If you can fill in as much as you can & email it back to me that'd be great; in terms of bringing stuff - whatever you need to enjoy the weekend: if you've got armies / terrain etc then great, if not you'll be able to join in with games as long as you play nice with other people's toys  ;D

It's all scoped out on the booking form anyway - good to have you on board.  8)

OK then, dont think I will be playing anything but I wouldnt mind a couple of days out, wargamer spotting.

I will send my form in today Nik........

Whats the camping like around your way Nik.December has always been my prefered time for a bit of camping, the cold weather keeps away the bulk of the Southern Softies....... :D :D :D :D
Professor of the bleedin obvious.

Camping in December? No worries - this is the South West - it's practically tropical here. Unless it's snowing (this is Exmoor we're talking about!) ;D

Have a look here:

Some of these might be seasonal though...

My wargame pal since '78 is coming too, so the Belgian delegation will be two - beware  8)

I have sent him the form, once I have got all the stuff together I'll forward it, then we can book flights - that much in advance they'll be cheapest.

I'll check lodging at a later date, we'll go for a nice BB, it would have to be close to the Tithe Barn though, time enough for that later, I assume first half of December is not the busiest of times in Somerset?

We *think* we could paint up some still to be purchased 10 mm ACW units, enough for a few Fire & Fury scenarios, but to be honest at the mo we're not sure.  Probably will be the same stuff we'll take to Crisis 10.  We play anything though, willing to try any period, so if I understand correctly we could just come and play along wherever there is room?  Will there be some sort of reservation system in advance?

Cheers,

Excellent  8)

I've also got some Belgian contacts on the Nikfest mailing list...so there might be a few of you...There is a link on my Nikfest page & on the booking form which will show you hotels / pubs / B&Bs in Dunster: this weekend should be OK, but Dunster in winter is pretty so there are some winter tourists: I'd recommend early booking! Everything in Dunster is in walking distance [it's a small village]; Minehead is 2 miles away...

If you've got stuff to bring, then great - alternatively you can either join in a game that someone else is putting on - or you can use my armies if you like. I'll be putting details of confirmed games etc together from now on...so you can get painting  etc but if you think you'll not make the deadline it's no problem. I've got ACW armies in 10mm which you could have first shout at if you like  8)

Your newsletter looks fine and you ought to be thoroughly recommended for all the work you're putting into this, Nik!

I'm still looking at the possibility to attend together with a gaming pal or two from The Netherlands.

One thing I didn't get in the newsletter is where it says that Dunster Tithe Barn..

Quote from: newsletter(..) is alcohol-friendly..

I adore the Engish language, but I'm not not this sort of pink feminist nanny-state Newspeak.

So can we get pissed there or not?  8)

Cheers,
Aart

For those who like 28mm, it may be of interest that Matakishi's now confirmed his attendance: http://www.matakishi.com/index.htm

Booked my flight, but my buddy is not coming, he changed his mind.  So I'll have to fraternize with the Dutch  :D

Has anyone already booked his B&B?  Are all staying at the same place?  Or is it free for all?

Nik, Do you already have an idea what games will be played?  I'm thinking to get me a BKC unit to bring along on Crisis or before, just want to know which type/nationality has good playing opportunity, don't wanna be the 5th guy with airborne or SS.  Will you be putting a list up with the games and armies that'll be present?
