I've got provisional dates for Nikfest 2010: in Dunster, Somerset, UK:  Friday 10th December - Sunday 12th December.

Before I go ahead & firm this one up, I'll need numbers of potentially interested participants: not committing you to anything, but I need to know there's enough interest to make it worthwhile.

Potential cost for venue will be £20 - £25 each - this decreases as participants increases of course!

I'm more inclined to let people find their own accommodation in Dunster / Minehead - there are so many different options & standards etc, from B&B to pub to 5* hotel, that it's easier if folks pitch their own wants / needs...

Anyway - if you're interested in Nikfest 2010 - let me know by pinging me an email to: bkc2gamer AT tiscali.co.uk - with Nikfest in the subject line.

I'll need to confirm this booking by about this time next week in order to secure. If you want info on Nikfest 2008 / venue / Dunster etc, have a look here: http://nikharwood.pbworks.com/Nikfest+2008

Focus of Nikfest is fun & we'll pretty much play whatever people want to play...major focus is BKC / CWC / FWC: I've got enough armies to be able to run multiple games of these if folks don't want to / can't bring their own figures...

Last time we were going to do something a bit different for the Saturday night game [to go well with beer]: this could be 28mm skirmishing of some description or whatever...

I should stress that Nikfest is *not* a competition / tournament - it's a chance to relax & play some friendly games with good company in a stunning part of the world. Kiwidave & I will have our pointy sticks to sort out any rules-lawyering dickheadedness!

I will be seeing if I can sort some 'sponsorship' stuff as well - would be nice to have a Nikfest complimentary pack or something  8)

Too bad it's a pain to get there from the continent.  I love gettogethers like that  :'(

If you can fly to Bristol airport I can arrange transport....really. I've got a participant who did this in 2008 - his brother lives near the airport...

That might work.  Flight is about 115 GBP, that's very reasonable.  Do you already know the starting time on Friday and -more importantly - when it would end on Sunday?  There is only a 16h30 return flight, it seems.  I'm sure there's reasonably price lodging to be found?

How far is it from the NikFest to Bristol?

I've updated with a provisional programme & details - including a booking form - and links to accommodation in / around Dunster  8)

I've given an end-time of 2pm on Sunday - which will allow for a decent morning game; I can make Bristol airport from Dunster in 2 hours no problem [usually 90 mins] - it's about 60-ish miles or so...

Would be great to see you there [and bring your friends!!]

Cool, that might work.  I've initiated the wife-pampering and sweet-talking that'll hopefully get me the permission to participate in this non-family activity.  Since I won't be able to go to Salute this year, the odds are rather favourable.

Good man  - always wise to start racking up those DGCs (*) as soon as you can...

It's timed nicely for you on return from deployment Sir  8)

Keep racking up those DGCs - you've got a Bank Holiday looming: great opportunity to get some triple-scores  ;D

Pruneau, it's just over an hours drive from the airport. Dependent upon when I set off for Nikfest, I may be able to offer a lift from the airport as I drive right past it. At present, I aim to arrive there sometime Friday afternoon.

Kiwidave

I can probably help with transport as well, as I'll be coming down the M5 to Taunton. Not *much* of a detour to Bristol Airport!

And I'll try to remember to get my form to you Nik!

nikharwood

Good man KD - I've got a week off now so will be firming up elements of the programme etc...will post updates as & when.
