Nik, Do you already have an idea what games will be played?  I'm thinking to get me a BKC unit to bring along on Crisis or before, just want to know which type/nationality has good playing opportunity, don't wanna be the 5th guy with airborne or SS.  Will you be putting a list up with the games and armies that'll be present?

List being compiled - but there's everything from 28mm SYW / AVBCW to 2mm Naps  8)

BKC will feature, I suspect, SCW, NWE & Desert - more details to follow once I've got it sussed...although you can bring what you like of course  8)

I found a great looking B&B at Blue Anchor Bay, it looks like it's about 3 miles from Dunster.  Will there be people with cars to get a lift there and back mornings and evenings?  Cause I love a good walk, but a one hour hike at night might be a bit too much.  Then again I'd love a spot near the sea.  If not I'll go for the Yarn Market, it looks near enough.

OK - this is an indicative, not-final-confirmed list:

- 28mm SYW Prussians / Austrians: Black Powder / Rank & File
- 42mm WW2: BKC [skirmish]
- 6mm WW2 Eastern Front: BKC
- 6mm WW2 NWE: BKC
- 6mm Modern: NATO Cold War: CWC
- 15mm WW2 Eastern Front: BKC
- 15mm WW2 NWE bocage table: BKC
- 2/3mm WW2 Early War
- 2/3mm Modern: NATO Cold War: CWC
- 2/3mm Modern: Middle East 1970s: CWC
- 3mm ACW: Black Powder
- 28mm AVBCW
- 10mm WW2 Eastern Front: BKC
- 28mm Medieval Mighty Fortress game [inspired by Robin Hood]
- WW2 Naval game
- 28mm Skirmish: Flying Lead
- 28mm Modern: Afghans v British or Mercs v Rebels: Modern Crossfire
- 28mm Modern: Afghan: Flying Lead
- 28mm Sci-fi Stargate: Flying Lead

And that's not with a decision from me on what I'm going to be gaming...although whatever I do it'll be from this:
- 2mm Ancients / Naps / ACW / Crimean
- 10mm SYW / Naps / ACW / SCW / WW2 / Moderns / Sci-fi / Fantasy / Pulp
- 28mm Moderns / Horror

Probably fine to sort re lifts to Dunster in the mornings - but I can't guarantee anyone [me included] being sober enough to pilot a car back in the evenings  ;) 8)

The Yarn Market Hotel is smack-bang in the middle of Dunster - approx a 2min walk to the venue [30 seconds if you go through their garden & out the back gate!]

Made reservations at the Yarn Market.

Couple of brief updates - next newsletter will follow shortly:

Peggy & Shawn of Ambush Alley Games, top-notch folks that they are, have sent over some support for Nikfest in the shape of a copy of each 'core' rulebook:

AZ / AA / FoF / DotR / AV / Op U

These, gratefully received, will go into the prize draw at Nikfest; a reminder that all proceeds from the event will be going to the boys of 40 Commando, Royal Marines & their families. 40 Cdo are currently in Helmand & have suffered significant casualties on their tour.

Oh - and this is the mention in this month's Wargames Illustrated:

Any chance the good people playing BKC Eastern front put up some info about what scale (base =squad, section, platoon?) they play, in BKC what year of the war, and what units they intend to bring?  I'd like to order me a small contingent of 10 mm Russians and Germans to get started in BKC, but I want to bring something usable.  OR maybe if everything is catered for, I'll get some troops for North Africa Theatre or D-Day, both high on my wish list next to Barbarossa.  I'd like to order half now, half for Crisis, so clock is ticking :)

I haven't actually played BKC yet, but I intend to go for squad per base, vehicles 1:1.  From what I read on the forum that should work, and I love smaller scale in miniatures, actually prefer boardgames for large scale.

Third Nikfest Newsletter now up - download it from here:

Don't forget - there are now plenty of games being run at the event, so you're more than welcome to just turn up & join in - you don't need to bring anything if that's easier [or if your forces etc are in-progress!]
