Poll
Question:
What should Grips paint and enter?
Option 1: Mongolian Archers
Option 2: Mongolian Death Worms
Option 3: Mongolian Peasants
Option 4: Minotaurs
Option 5: Something not beginning with M
I have hit a massive "painters block" and don't know what to enter in the competition.
I have also never photographed my stuff to show on the forum so...
Please vote for an option below and I promise to abide by the group's decision. ;)
I'll kick it off then, Gareth. ;)
Cheers - Phil.
Mongoliand Death Worms? Isn't that what Klingons have for breakfast?
Minotaurs, because I want to see what you can do with them! ;)

No ;D
I included them in my fantasy Mongol army because they are rumoured to live in the Gobi desert; some people REALLY believe they exist:

Cheers Phil...what did you vote for?
If it's Mongols, I'm really nervous given the cracking sculpts you produced ;)
:-[.....It was....I just want to see what they come out like when painted. ;)
Cheers - Phil.

No shame in that ;)
All of them? There's enough categories to go round ;)
Cheers!

Won't have time and I am quite incapable of making decisions like this...PLEASE vote Meirion :)

Minotaurs, but do them all :D

Looking forward to seeing them :-bd
I cannot wait to get my hands on the Mongols; been far too long a wait (I fully understand the time pressures on clone central...not having a pop, just excited). ;)

agreed!
I've just been painting a load of Norman knights with just 2 poses :(. Having so many variants on the Mongols is going to be a luxury.
It's sad that I'm excited by this :D

Too true; will make the finished army look really "hordey" 8)
Two varients!
My 1866 Saxons dream of two varients! :P

Well, their dream was granted. Even the old sculpts had two variants, firing and advancing. If you add the figures in peaked caps in the more modern sculpts in the German/Prussian line then there are two more, marching and on guard. LUXURY, :D
That said, it would be great if the command could be redone with the officer in cap.

Yes, they are quite "special" aren't they? Can you tell the difference between the helmet for 1866 and the model 1867 for 1870 in 10mm scale? Not sure I can, and the Saxons for 1870 are very nice.

okay this line made me look up the picture of the cavalry! Seems easily fixed by bending some legs.

Been there, done that! They still look a bit odd, rather stiff as if riding to attention on a fairground roundabout! The world has moved on a bit since then - I was perfectly happy with them when they arrived.

Can't we choose something that doesn't begin with 'M'?

Yes :D
I have realised that my vote for minotaurs comes with an ulterior motive or two:
One, it will give me competition in the fantasy section, although Fred and I are not planning to repeat the 2013 'Dragon Off' it would be nice to have a friendly side challenge, but mine won't be minotaurs or wyrms. Maybe a flying snake or three!

I think I'm going to enter 'em anyway along with the poll winner (Mongol peasants as it stands). :-bd
I voted for Archers, as I think they're fantastic sculpts, liked them as soon as they arrived from Techno.

Agreed :)
They just "look right".
Also, I thought the peasants would make a nice contrast; can't see many folks going for them ;)

I voted for peasants as I thought Grips would have the experience and knowledge in giving these a really good paint job
Way cool!

This is FSN we're talking here...
Depends upon several factors:
1) The phase of the moon;
2) The quantity of pills consumed;
3) How many turrets he's lost;
4) How bored he is;
5) Which part of his multi-dimensional personality is in the driving seat today.
I have a formula where:
M = moon cycle
C = pills consumed
T = turrets
B = boredom
P = personality
Therefor: Pantomime = (M+C)
3 + T
2 x B / P
Oh Yeah!!!
I've just finished painting a 4000 point Empire army for a WM battle on Saturday. Time to finish off my competition entries.
I'm going for:
Mongolian peasants (different);
Mongolian archers (awesome sculpts);
Minotaurs (one of PD's best fantasy casts IMHO).
Hoorah :) :) :)
