Title: Chinese Warlord Dare-to-Die units
Post by: doctorphalanx on 05 December 2012, 07:24:53 AM
I've long been planning (am still planning) a couple of Chinese Warlord armies for use with Square Bashing. I'm planning on using Pendraken figures as I think 10mm is an ideal size for these rules. The only gap left to fill is the Dare-to-Die units.

I think the SCW Asaltos with SMG will be very good but I'd like to supplement these with sword-and-pistol figures. Any suggestions?

WWII Japanese command figures have swords I believe. Worth checking them out.

Or start nagging for the production of some Chinese figures such as could alo be used for those long-awaited Ming and Korean armies; many would transfer to late imperial armies.

Hi

Thinking about Chinese uniforms

how about using the WW1 German stormtroopers (GP6) as dare to die men

other thoughts, possibly WW1 Austrian in cap officer, FPW French officer in kepi.

Thanks for the responses. I think most of the figures needed for the Chinese Warlord era can be recruited from existing ranges as discussed in this earlier thread http://www.pendrakenforum.co.uk/index.php/topic,2281.0.html, but it would be nice if Pendraken did assault troops and bandits along the lines of those produced by Copplestone in 28mm. It is these additional types that really add flavour.

The Chinese Dare to Die troops are typically shown with broomhandle Mauser and the Chinese Dadao sword :-

but could also be found with Bergmann MP18 SMGs, etc.

(Not sure if this is a Dare to Die Unit but the thought of a bicycle mounted sword armed assault unit tickles my fancy  :D )

If you're talking about the German stormtroops, I've only seen the picture in the earlier post.

Cheers
