Title: Getting My Act Together on my Blog
Post by: sunjester on 05 December 2020, 06:09:06 PM
I haven't posted much on my blog recently. Partly because I have been a bit preoccupied with reinventing our family business in the face of the current situation and finding new ways to earn some sort of income. And partly, if I am honest, because I seemed to lack enthusiasm to do so.  So giving myself a good kick up the backside, I've started (re-started?) by putting up a bunch of fantasy mini's I've painted since August http://grahamsgaming.blogspot.com/2020/12/various-fantasy-figures.html

Good work there. The zombies are indeed from Zombicide Black Plague.

Sounds like "a bit preoccupied with reinventing our family business in the face of the current situation and finding new ways to earn some sort of income" are pretty important things to be focused on

Indeed!

Sounds like you have been getting painting and playing in. If getting them on to a blog isn't happening then that's understandable, it's always more of a chore. But glad to see the results, and fhey look good - those spiders are huge!

And now I've added some of the VSF stuff (with a bit of a Gothic Horror twist). http://grahamsgaming.blogspot.com/2020/12/some-lockdown-painting-vsfsteampunk.html

Oooh! Carnival Row-ish.

Not that I watched. The heavy political overtones put me off after episode 1.

Nice brushwork. I'm into the steam powered bicycle gatling, but I'm impressed with your handling of yellow. Difficult colour yellow. Do you undercoat in brown?

Those are very bizarre (in a good way) and good work on the rest of them.

I really enjoyed Carnival Row - shame it was just the one series - and came to a rather major ending!

A bit of a cheat actually, because I've never had any good results with yellow in the past. This was a light brown/beige undercoat and Iyanden Yellow contrast paint from the Evil Empire (TM).

Love the steam carriage! Though I did think initially that the lampost was attached to the front wheel as a bizarre sort of headlight.

How would one get into it?

Not through the side door.

'Round the back.......Could be a door we can't see ?

Ignore me, as usual.

Indeed not, Techno II.

I worry that the young lady would not be able to open the side door because of the wheel, and whilst she was tugging at the knob, she would be in danger of having her skirt caught in those rather nasty looking gear wheels ... which would probably end up in something akin to a Victorian Benny Hill sketch.

Or a horrible maiming.

I think you are over thinking this Nobby.  She gets in from the other side. The door this side is for servicing the gear wheels.

Overthinking? Me? Impossible!

When have I ever taken a perfectly reasonable proposition and driven it to the point of absurdity?    O:-)

Clearly, just out of shot, there is a wheeled stairway, similar to those used to access aircraft. Doubtless being wheeled into position by the Steamcoach-man, stoker and postillion. :)

Thank you gents.

Concerning Sir Henry's steam carriage, obviously the passenger compartment slides forward and a set of extending steps, stored beneath the door, permit the passengers access.
