Title: 10mm Field Defences
Post by: Desert Fox on 19 September 2020, 02:24:39 AM
Gentlemen,
Those of you gaming the 20th Century - what do you use for 10mm:

trenches?
gun pits?
sangers?
wadis?
trees?

Our kind hosts offer a range of Scenic & Terrain items here https://pendraken.co.uk/scenic-items-terrain/ (https://pendraken.co.uk/scenic-items-terrain/)

I'm sure others will be along shortly with further suggestions

As well as Pendraken's excellent offerings you might want to have a look at TimeCast (http://www.timecastmodels.co.uk/) who do field defences, buildings, roads and rivers suitable for 10mm.

Total Battle Miniatures (http://www.totalbattleminiatures.com) do a range of exquisite (but therefore pricey, IMHO) 10mm North African buildings/ settlements.

The Baggage Train (https://the-baggagetrain.com) also do some very useful bits and pieces

I get big bags of trees from China via EBay. So far, they have been cheap and reliable.

Agree with all of that - Steve took over and has developed an existing range, he cocvers most periods. His Normandy beach or Atlantic wall stuff is excellent. Bags of trees from China, ordered 1 which hadn't appeared after 2 mths, complained, got a bag 2 weeks later, week after the 1st appeared. They aren't the best but perfectly servicable.

For trees I use the variety of plastic N-guage model railway trees that are sold in packs of 20 or so for as little as £4 including postage from China.

I use some from Pendraken as stated above
And I make some : for example I'm proud of my wires
(can't find a good picture, but you can see some here : http://2d6.fr/?p=3491   2nd and 4th photos. Only one was finished when we played this game)

(the one on the right was finished. And yes the bridge was also hand made, as the rivers, the roads and the houses  ;)  )

The trees were from Pendraken but are not sold anymore ( I asked a few weeks ago   ;D  )  and now you'll have to purchase them from China as sultanbev said.
For garden hedges I use green sponges. For dirty hedges and bocage, I use cat litter, glued and painted, with some flocking.
I do like making some terrains by myself, it's different from painting
